The Secret History – Compelling Historical Fiction

Most Compelling Historical Fiction About Making Of An Empress
Gripping Story Of Courage, Wits, Resilience and Power

The Secret History by Stephanie Thornto, is one of the most gripping and compelling historical fiction about Empress Theodora. Its an endlessly fascinating journey of a forgotten heroine of history, from being nothing more than a poor starving child, who sold herself to prostitution, to becoming the most powerful women of an empire.

Gripping Tale That Will Leave You Wanting For More

I bet this is one of those books which one cant put down unless finished and once finished it will leave you wanting for more. After reading the book I could not help myself but falling in love with Empress Theodora who has been so beautifully portrayed in the book as woman with courage, wits and resilience. Author has added just enough juice to make the character so realistically clever and mysterious that it will keep its readers fully engrossed right from the page one of the book. Right from the starting of the book writer manages to evoke reader’s emotions.

Making Of An Empress

Making of an Empress begins when Theodora is just 13 years and her father dies leaving the family to starve on streets. Tired of hunger and poverty Theodora following her elder sister decide to take up theater acting which is not really much different than prostitution. I love the vivid portrayal of the historic period which makes you not just read but experience this journey of Theodora. With every rise and fall of Theodora you will feel a pang of emotion in your throat. Story is not just about the making of an Empress, but it is about the betrayal, destitute and heartbreak. Every time Theodora falls and lands herself into misery, she comes out it even stronger than before making us wonder why history does not talk much about her.

Treat For Book Lovers

This book is a real treat for all the book lovers who are fond of history and historic fiction and love to read about historic heroines with nerves of steel. This is a must read historic fiction for all those women who believe in themselves. Kudos to Stephanie for writing such a compelling story.
